We offer general deer hunting but the area we hunt offers the hunter the opportunity to harvest a deer of their choice. Our area has produced some very large and quality whitetail deer. We have had clients that have harvested small buck and you would have thought they had broken the World Record. Not every hunter considers a trophy deer by a score or the number of points or the size of the rack. Each individual hunts with varying expectations. You know what you want when you hunt. We allow you to harvest what you want. There isn’t a trophy behind every bush but we have trophy whitetail buck in our area. Most hunters must realize that an area will only support a certain number of deer. Out of that number of deer there will be a certain number of large buck, doe, trophies etc. Deer establish territories and when deer are harvested other deer move in and establish dominance whether it is a doe or buck. Each season trophy whitetail deer have been harvested that score very well. Just this season in Maryland a huge whitetail buck was harvested that has broken the current Maryland record scoring over 300 points. Another large buck was harvested in Maryland that scored over 200 points. Trophy Whitetail Deer, Buck are found throughout the State of Maryland and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. There are many Whitetail Deer, Buck that exceed the minimum Boone and Crockett requirements and many are taken during the archery season that score well and meet the requirements and exceed the requirements of Pope & Young. The Eastern Shore of Maryland offers a variety of terrain, food sources such as browse, grain fields, nuts, etc. that attract the deer and provide the nutrients necessary to develop massive antlers. Not every hunter will harvest one of these trophies but the potential and opportunity to see and harvest extremely large buck are there. Deer Haven Outfitter’s offers archery hunting, firearms hunting and muzzleloader hunting for whitetail deer and trophy buck. We welcome hunters from all across the United States and Canada. We have accommodated hunters from a large number of States such as MD, PA, DE, NJ, NY, NH, MA, NC, SC, VA, FL, and encourage others to join us.
We still have OPENINGS for Archery, Firearms and Muzzleloader. Marylands Season contimues through the end of January. Many hunters do not realize that Maryland offers Archery from September through the end of January, A three day early Muzzleloader Season in October, A two week regular Muzzleloader Season in December, A two week Firearms Season from the end of November to the second week of December and A two day either sex Firearm Season in January.
Lots of GREAT HUNTING LEFT!! Maryland’s Eastern Shore offers exceptional Whitetail Deer hunting. Most of our whitetail deer hunting is in Kent , and Queen Anne Counties. These two counties have great trophy whitetail deer potential year after year, retain an excellent whitetail deer population, offer a variety of terrain and prime habitat not to mention the abundance of food sources such as; soybeans, corn, etc…that provides the Whitetail deer with the necessary nutrition to develop massive antlers.
Some of this countries best and most productive Whitetail deer hunting can be found on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We have never misled our clients with false claims and promises. We harvest a variety of whitetail deer including Doe and Small Buck. We have trophy class Whitetail Buck hunting, but we do not want our clients to have the impression that each hunt will produce a trophy whitetail buck. There is always the possibility that the wall hanger you desire will appear out of no where and make your hunt unforgettable. We all need to be realistic, honest with ourselves, and understand that there are only so many large Buck in any area selected.

We don’t have large tracts of woodland in our area like many areas in Canada such as Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec and other States. The land for Whitetail deer you would hunt would be smaller farms, with smaller tracts of woods adjacent to grain fields. The deer move from wood lot to wood lot and they take advantage of all of the food sources along their travel routes and trails. The hunting on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is basically stand hunting. We normally hunt deer out of 14 ft. ladder stands situated in areas where deer travel to and from bedding areas, browse, grain fields and other food sources. We are not a game farm. The whitetail deer we hunt are 100% wild and are fair chase. We do not stalk or still hunt. Deer Haven Outfitters is a guide service located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the Chesapeake Bay Region. At the present time we do not utilize planted food plots because the food sources are sufficient in this area to accommodate Whitetail Deer in our area and provide Whitetail buck in this area the nutrients needed to develop massive, huge, trophy antlers or racks that will score well and meet the requirements of B&C and P&Y. It is necessary in some areas of Maryland especially in the Mountain Regions to utilize food plots because there is a lack of grain fields available in some of those areas to provide the deer proper nutrition. We plan to expand over the next few years. This year we plan to plant a large number of seedlings throughout our area to add additional food sources such as hazelnut, chestnuts, pin oaks, saw tooth oaks, Atlantic white cedar, persimmon trees, paw paw etc.

Successful trophy whitetail deer hunters realize that proper stand location, patience, time of season, weather conditions, just to mention a few, are all very important factors to be aware of when planning a hunt. One of the most important factors is the time a hunter chooses to spend in a stand to harvest a trophy. We can place you in a good location but you have to be willing to do the rest. Many trophy class Buck are harvested between 10 am and 2 pm, when most hunters have gone to lunch. Time after time I have seen positive results from the whitetail deer hunter that decides to stay during midday. Something else that I feel is very important is following the guide’s instructions. I feel very strongly about this because we scout the areas and observe the Deer in the area prior to your hunt. We place our hunters in the locations that we feel will be most productive. Many times we have had hunters within yards of the bedding areas and instructed the hunters not to walk beyond a particular location to avoid spooking the Deer, but many hunters fail to listen and the end result is failure. There are times we have misjudged the Deer and they choose to feed across the field or at another location. That’s why it’s called Deer hunting! Regardless of where you hunt it is very beneficial to take the guides advice. Very seldom will a hunter walk up on a Whitetail.

This is a long term investment but our efforts will definitely draw deer and provide the deer with the nutrition to develop massive antlers. In thinner areas we plan to plant Virginia Pines, Lespedeza, Gray Dogwood, White Pines and many others to provide excellent cover for bedding and to provide areas for the deer to be protected from the elements. We will be looking for sponsors such as the manufacturers of Deer Cocaine, Mossy Oak, Realtree, Primo’s, PSE, Browning, Remington, Winchester, Mossberg, Benelli, and many others to film footage of Trophy Whitetail Deer Hunts and General Deer Hunting. We have considered utilizing smaller companies within the area that want the challenge of filming some great whitetail hunts. I’m Dan Voshell and at the age of 50 I have been whitetail deer hunting for over 30 years.
